What’s a buttock augmentation with implants?

Many women, as well as men, may feel uncomfortable with their body because of their small, flat and asymmetrical buttocks. An augmentation surgery with implants will increase the volume and improve the shape of the buttocks boosting patient’s self confidence.

Who’s a good candidate?

The ideal candidate for a butt implant surgery should have realistic expectations and wish to improve the shape of his buttocks as well as add volume at the area. The surgery concerns both men and women who are healthy and close to their ideal weight. Butt implants can improve the general look of the body and its proportions but cannot enlarge the hips. To sum up it is an ideal choice for people who do not have enough fat excess in order to choose a butt augemntation surgery with fat transfer like a Brazilian Butt Lift.

Facts I need to know

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, takes 2 to 3 hours and is safe. Incisions can differ in size and placement, depending on the result we want to achieve and as well as on the size and the type of implants that the doctor chooses after consulting with the patient. The implants used in the buttock area are more firm than the ones used in the breasts but they are still soft and have a natural feeling. Incisions are not too big and are hidden in stratigecally chosen places and, even if they don’t completely disappear scars do not cause problems for the patients.

Recovery Time

After the surgery patients notice mild soreness and swelling. They should not but any pressure on the implants for several weeks and intense exercising should be avoided. Implants are usually placed under the sit bones so patients should normally be able to sit after the surgery but each case is different and doctor’s instructions must be followed. Patients can return to their work and normal routine 2 weeks following the surgery. Once the swelling completely subsides results become fully visible. Results last for many years and implants can always be repositioned with a new, short surgery.

Doctor’s Remarks

I have been trained in this technique in France, according to european beauty standards, in the Chanps-Elysées campus in Paris, under the guidance of dr Philippe Levan & dr Gilbert Zakine. In Europe patients are looking for nicely shaped buttocks, not too large, that are in proportion with the rest of the body. The implants size is usually small and their type is Biconvex, approved for buttock use, in round or oval shape, with curved surfaces contrary to the implants used in breasts that have one flat and one curvy surface. They are placed inside the muscle, never above it, in order for the sense of feeling of the buttocks surface to be totally natural and for the result not to be visible. This surgery can be combined with a body liposculpture, a technique that includes liposuction performed on the waist and the hip area and fat transfer in the buttocks area. This way implants are covered all over with skin and fat, they are better hidden and results are even more harmonious.
